The Alexander Blewett III School of Law invites applications for a tenure-track positions to begin Fall Semester 2026. The position will focus on teaching in the area of Legal Writing. Additional curricular needs include Copyright and Trademark Law, Employment Law, Family Law, Introduction to Intellectual Property Law, Insurance Law, and Pre-Trial Litigation. We are committed to integrating theory with practice. Therefore, practice experience in the areas to be taught is particularly valuable.
Required qualifications include: Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school; superior academic background; significant relevant practice experience; demonstrated record of or potential for effective teaching; demonstrated record of or potential for scholarship; and the ability to work collegially with Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, staff, faculty, and external constituencies of the law school.

Alexander Blewett III School of Law at the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to serve as the This position provides leadership and strategic direction for the Career Development Office and plays a vital role in supporting Ñý¼§Ö±²¥’ professional success. This position requires a proactive and student-focused approach to career development and engagement. The successful candidate will be a key advocate for student success, fostering relationships with the legal community and supporting Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ in their professional growth.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

- Oversee and manage all aspects of the Career Development Office to maximize employment opportunities for Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ and graduates.
- Provide career counseling, including one-on-one advising, resume and cover letter review, and career planning support.
- Develop, grow, and maintain relationships with legal employers, alumni, and bar associations to enhance job placement opportunities.
- Conduct employer outreach and coordinate on-campus interviews and recruitment programs.
- Advise Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ on bar exam requirements, application processes, and character and fitness considerations.
- Oversee career-related data tracking and reporting to meet ABA and NALP accreditation requirements.
- Organize and lead career development programming, including continuing legal education courses, forums with judges and faculty, and initiatives for Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ interning in public service and rural law firms.
- Supervise student organizations and work closely with student leaders to foster an engaged law school community.
- Collaborate with the Student Bar Association and Wellbeing Support Coordinator to connect Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ with resources, promote wellness initiatives, and facilitate discussions on substance abuse and the meaning of law school grades.
- Manage and support student concerns as they arise by researching issues, connecting Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ with relevant resources, and ensuring timely resolution.
- Support financial education and debt counseling efforts for Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, including workshops on loan repayment and financial planning.

Minimum Qualifications

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Strong knowledge of legal career opportunities in Montana and beyond.
- Excellent writing, oral communication, and public speaking skills.
- General knowledge of legal resume writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, faculty, staff, and legal professionals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based career development tools.
- Membership in or eligibility to join the State Bar of Montana.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Montana’s legal community.
- Experience in career counseling, legal recruitment, or hiring.

The Alexander Blewett III School of Law invites applications for a Computer Support Specialist to provide advanced technical support to the school. As the primary point of contact for classroom and event technology, as well as daily IT issues, this role ensures that faculty, staff, and Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ receive prompt and effective assistance with computer connectivity, software access, and other technical needs.
This position, working closely with UM IT, troubleshoots and resolves complex hardware, software, and peripheral issues while maintaining and supporting all IT systems within the Law building, including classroom technology, faculty/staff computers, and public-use computers in the Law Library. When necessary, larger issues are escalated to the Computer Support Specialist III or UM IT. The role involves setting up, operating, and dismantling audio-visual equipment for courses, meetings, conferences, and events.
Responsibilities include overseeing incident and service requests to ensure timely resolution, developing user-friendly technical support materials, overseeing inventory and organization within the main LawIT office, and tracking all LawIT equipment to ensure efficiency and accessibility. The position will assist with Examsoft and examinations during the law school's examination periods. As well as collaborate on other technology related tasks and needs that arise from time to time.
This position is responsible for opening the main LawIT Office and ensuring classrooms are fully operational each morning. The standard work schedule is 7:45 AM to 4:45 PM with a one-hour lunch, with flexibility required for weeknight and weekend support during events and technology upgrades. This is a customer service driven position, requiring work to be performed in person.

Minimum Qualifications

- High School diploma and two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Demonstrated time management and multitasking skills with the ability to efficiently distribute effort among various assignments and duties and complete projects with critical deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and document information, including prioritization and completion of tasks, and documenting and following checklists on proven solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with people who don’t have a technical background; effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to share knowledge with users and peers.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise working with audio/visual equipment and technology of the type used in university classrooms.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in supporting client hardware and software, storage systems and networks, including Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS.
- Research skills to gather, analyze and organize information to generate meaningful solutions to complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in educational technology, information technology, or a related field or something similar.
- Two (2) years of experience providing technical support in an academic or professional setting.
- Experience working with enterprise-level IT environments and tools.
- Familiarity working in Higher Education environment.
