Dean's Welcome
Welcome to the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ College of Business!
At the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, we aspire to think critically, live ethically, and explore creatively. The College of Business does so by putting an emphasis on leadership and innovation, honoring traditions of excellence while constantly looking forward to the future. Our Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ are launching careers through the college's valuable curriculum, industry connections, and career development professionals. Our professors are staying on top of trends through innovative research and deep connections with industry and alumni. Our motivation is to see our Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ shine.
What is it like to be part of an organization like this?
As a student, it means having access to valuable degrees that companies hire for. From day one, our curriculum is designed to prepare Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ for today’s technology-driven market, ensuring an understanding of business models, operations, and how information systems and data can be used to make business decisions. This forward-thinking approach has paid off; our college is the best business school in the Montana, according to U.S. News & World Report. We offer undergraduate majors in accounting, cybersecurity, finance, international business, management, management information systems, and marketing. Students can also earn certificates in any of seven concentrations, and a minor in business administration complements any major offered at UM.
Being a business student at UM means being supported and inspired. We know how important career development is, so we’ve built a robust network of resources to support our Ñý¼§Ö±²¥’ career goals outside the classroom as well. A strong majority of our Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ participate in internships; our well-connected and accomplished faculty are constantly mentoring Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ outside of class and inviting business leaders to connect with Ñý¼§Ö±²¥; and our Gianchetta Student Success Center is a one-stop-shop for advising, supplemental workshops, and more. There are also ample opportunities to study abroad, participate in student organizations, and network with alumni and employers.
At the graduate level, the college offers the only accredited master of accountancy in Montana and the first master of science in business analytics in the Pacific Northwest. Our master's of business administration, which is the only degree of its kind in the state, lets Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ earn their diploma without stepping foot on campus.
Our alumni network is nearly 20,000 graduates strong. They are known for entering the workforce not only with business skills but also with a liberal arts foundation that helps them write well and think critically. With this background, our graduates are likely to have a job within three months of graduation. They help lead global companies like Microsoft, Nike, KPMG, and Boeing, and have careers as accountants, IT consultants, marketing and finance professionals, managers, and entrepreneurs in Montana and beyond.
There’s so much more to gain from being associated with our college. Thanks for stopping by, and please, follow us at or contact us at officeofthedean@mso.umt.edu to learn more.
