Developing Civically Engaged Leaders

This spring, Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ in the GLI demonstrated the power of community-driven leadership, logging over 1,000 hours of civic engagement through their GBLD 220: Models of Leadership course.

From serving as cultural liaisons with the Mansfield Center’s YSEALI program, where Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ helped facilitate cross-cultural connections with visiting Southeast Asian leaders, to rolling up their sleeves for Service Saturdays with ELCS—building garden beds at Franklin Elementary and spending time with shelter animals—GLI Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ explored leadership in action.

Others took to the trails, leading youth on a multi-day backpacking trip, providing mentorship and connection through Montana’s wild landscapes. And these, only to name a few.

The hands-on projects Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ pursued reflect the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥’s commitment to wellbeing, leadership, service, and civic engagement as central pillars of the student experience. The GBLD 220 course not only teaches leadership theory—it empowers Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ to live it.

With over 1,000 hours and countless lives impacted, these Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ are helping to shape a more connected, compassionate, and civically engaged campus and community.
